The Pallbearer is a 1996 English-language Comedy Romance film written by Jason Katims and Matt Reeves. The movie is directed by Matt Reeves and produced by J. J. Abrams and Paul Webster. A young man's life is thrown into a loop when he is asked to be a pallbearer for the funeral of a classmate he doesn't remember, and his old high school crush temporarily returns to town. The pallbearer stars David Schwimmer in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael Rapaport, Toni Collette, Carol Kane, Bitty Schram and Barbara Hershey. The music was composed by Stewart Copeland. Cinematography was done by Robert Elswit and editing by Stan Salfas. The movie has a running time of 98 minutes. The Pallbearer was made on a budget of $8 million and at the box office it grossed only $5 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Miramax Films.
