The movie is directed by Roman Polanski and produced by Roman Polanski, Robert Benmussa, Alain Sarde and Akshansh Nikhanj under the banner of Canal+ in collaboration with Studio Babelsberg and Studio Canal+. A Polish Jewish musician struggles to survive the destruction of the Warsaw ghetto of World War II. The pianist stars Adrien Brody in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Thomas Kretschmann, Frank Finlay, Maureen Lipman, Emilia Fox, Ed Stoppard and Julia Rayner. The screenplay is written by Ronald Harwood which is inspired from The Pianist by W adys aw Szpilman. The music was composed by Wojciech Kilar. Cinematography was done by Pawe Edelman and editing by Herv de Luze. The film has a running time of 150 minutes. It was released on 25th September 2002 in English and German languages.
