The Pirates! Band of Misfits is a 2012 English-language Animation Adventure movie written by Gideon Defoe and directed by Peter Lord and Jeff Newitt and produced by Julie Lockhart, Peter Lord and David Sproxton under the banner of Aardman Animations in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. Pirate Captain sets out on a mission to defeat his rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz for the Pirate of the year Award. The quest takes Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. The pirates! band of misfits stars Hugh Grant in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including David Tennant, Imelda Staunton, Martin Freeman, Jeremy Piven, Salma Hayek and Lenny Henry.
