The Promise is a 2008 Filipino-language Action Drama movie written by Raquel N. Villavicencio and directed by Mike Tuviera and produced by Lily Y. Monteverde and Annette Gozon-abrogar. When his powerful crime czar boss kills the man he considered a mentor, a young gangster on the rise goes to war in order to get revenge. The promise stars Richard Gutierrez in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Angel Locsin, Asser Yassin, Mahmoud Yassine, Ruby, Ghassan Massoud and Bassem Samra. The movie is based on Hihintayin Kita sa Langit by Carlos Siguion Reyna Wuthering Heights by Emily Bront. The music was composed by Arnold Buena along with Allan Feliciano. Cinematography was done by Marissa Floirendo and editing by Jay Halili and John David Hukom. The movie has a running time of 113 minutes. It was released on 7th December 2008 in Filipino and English languages. The movie made a box office gross of ₱60 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Regal Films.
