The Road Home is a 1999 Mandarin-language Drama History motion picture written by Shi Bao and directed by Yimou Zhang and Zhang Yimou and produced by Zhang Weiping and Zhao Yu. Prompted by the death of his father and the grief of his mother, a man recalls the story of how they met in flashback. The road home features Zhang Ziyi in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Sun Honglei, Zheng Hao, Zhao Yulian, Ziyi Zhang, Honglei Sun and Hao Zheng. The screenplay is written by Bao Shi which is inspired from Remembrance by Bao Shi. The music was composed by San Bao. Cinematography was done by Hou Yong and editing by Zhai Rui. The film has a running time of 89 minutes. It was released on 15th June 2001. The movie made a box office gross of $6 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Beijing New Picture Distribution Company.
