The Robe is a 1953 English-language Drama History motion picture written by Philip Dunne, Gina Kaus, Lloyd C. Douglas and Albert Maltz. The movie is directed by Henry Koster and produced by Frank Ross. In the Roman province of Judea during the 1st century, Roman tribune Marcellus Gallio is ordered to crucify Jesus of Nazareth but is tormented by his guilty conscience afterwards. The robe stars Richard Burton in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Jean Simmons, Victor Mature, Michael Rennie, Jay Robinson, Dean Jagger and Torin Thatcher. The screenplay is written by Gina Kaus, Albert Maltz and Philip Dunne which is inspired from The Robe by Lloyd C. Douglas. The music was composed by Alfred Newman. Cinematography was done by Leon Shamroy and editing by Barbara McLean. The film has a running time of 135 minutes. It was released on 4th December 1953. The Film was successful at box office.
