The Warriors is a 1979 English-language Action Thriller motion picture written by Sol Yurick, David Shaber and Walter Hill. The movie is directed by Walter Hill and produced by Lawrence Gordon. In the near future, a charismatic leader summons the street gangs of New York City in a bid to take it over. When he is killed, The Warriors are falsely blamed and now must fight their way home while every other gang is hunting them down. The warriors features Michael Beck in the title role along with an ensemble cast including James Remar, Dorsey Wright, Brian Tyler, David Harris, Tom Mckitterick and Marcelino Sánchez. The screenplay is written by David Shaber and Walter Hill which is inspired from The Warriors by Sol Yurick. The music was composed by Barry De Vorzon. Cinematography was done by Andrew Laszlo and editing by David Holden, Freeman Davies, Jr., Billy Weber and Susan E. Morse. The film has a running time of 92 minutes. It was released on 1st February 1979 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. The Warriors was made on a budget of $4 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $4 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Paramount Pictures.
