The Watcher in the Woods is a 1980 English-language Family Horror movie directed by John Hough and Vincent Mceveety and produced by Ron Miller under the banner of Walt Disney Productions. When a normal American family moves into a beautiful old English house in a wooded area, strange, paranormal appearances befall them in this interesting twist to the well-known haunted-house tale. Their daughter Jan s, and daughter Ellie hears, the voice of a young teenage girl who mysteriously disappeared during a total solar eclipse decades before.. Written by Michael Ducharme. The watcher in the woods features Bette Davis, Carroll Baker, David Mccallum, Lynn-holly Johnson, Kyle Richards, Frances Cuka and Derek Lyons. The screenplay is written by Brian Clemens, Harry Spalding and Rosemary Anne Sisson which is inspired from A Watcher in the Woods by Florence Engel Randall. The music was composed by Stanley Myers. Cinematography was done by Alan Hume and editing by Geoffrey Foot. The film has a running time of 84 minutes. It was released on 3rd July 1981. The Watcher in the Woods was made on a budget of $9 million and at the box office it grossed only $5 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Buena Vista Distribution.
