Thunderbolt is a 1947 English-language Documentary History film written by Lester Koenig and M/sgt Lester Koenig. The movie is directed by John Sturges, William Wyler and Lt Col William Wyler and produced by U.s. Army Air Forces under the banner of Carl Krueger Productions in collaboration with U.S. War Department. A WW2 documentary on the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter/bomber pilots in missions (Operation Strangle) from their base in Corsica to Northern Italy in 1944, destroying railroads, bridges, trains, vehicles and hard targets. Thunderbolt features James Stewart, Lloyd Bridges, Eugene Kern and Robert Lowery. The music was composed by Cpl Gail Kubik. Editing was done by Lt Col William Wyler and Capt John Sturges. The movie has a running time of 44 minutes. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Monogram Pictures.
