Truth is a 2015 English-language Biography Drama film written by James Vanderbilt and Mary Mapes. The movie is directed by James Vanderbilt and produced by Brad Fischer, William Sherak, Brett Ratner, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer, Doug Mankoff and Andy Spaulding. Newsroom drama detailing the 2004 CBS 60 Minutes report investigating then-President George W. Bush's military service, and the subsequent firestorm of criticism that cost anchor Dan Rather and producer Mary Mapes their careers. Truth features Cate Blanchett in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Robert Redford, Topher Grace, Elisabeth Moss, Bruce Greenwood, Stacy Keach and Dennis Quaid. The screenplay is written by James Vanderbilt which is inspired from Truth and Duty by Mary Mapes. The music was composed by Brian Tyler. Cinematography was done by Mandy Walker and editing by Richard Francis-Bruce. The movie has a running time of 125 minutes. It was released on 17th March 2016. Truth was made on a budget of $9 million and at the box office it grossed only $5 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Sony Pictures Classics.
