Vaanmathi is a 1996 Tamil-language Action Comedy motion picture written and directed by Agathiyan and produced by Sivashakthi Pandian under the banner of Sivasakthi Movie Makers. Sunil (Ajith) belongs to a middle class family, while Vaanmathi (Swathi) is the daughter of a rich business woman who abandoned her husband when Vaanmathi was a baby. Sunil and Vaanmathi play tricks on each other and fight after meeting but eventually fall in love, with Vaanmathi's mother is not happy with. The two lovers then have to overcome many obstacles to be united. Written by A.C.M. Vaanmathi stars Ajith Kumar in the lead role along with Swathi, Dhamu, Hemalatha, Pandu and Vadivukkarasi in supporting roles. The music was composed by Deva. Cinematography was done by Thangar Bachan and editing by Lancy Mohan. The movie has a running time of 147 minutes. It was released on 26th September 1995. Vaanmathi was made on a budget of ₹1 crore. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Sivashakthi Movie Makers.
