Wag the Dog is a 1997 English-language Comedy Drama motion picture written by Larry Beinhart, Hilary Henkin and David Mamet. The movie is directed by Barry Levinson and produced by Barry Levinson, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal under the banner of Baltimore Pictures in collaboration with TriBeCa Productions. Shortly before an election, a spin-doctor and a Hollywood producer join efforts to fabricate a war in order to cover up a presidential sex scandal. Wag the dog features Dustin Hoffman in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Robert De Niro, Anne Heche, Denis Leary, Willie Nelson, Andrea Martin and Woody Harrelson. The screenplay is written by Hilary Henkin and David Mamet which is inspired from American Hero by Larry Beinhart. The music was composed by Mark Knopfler. Cinematography was done by Robert Richardson and editing by Stu Linder. The film has a running time of 97 minutes. It was released on 9th January 1998. The Film was successful at box office. At the 1998 Berlin International Film Festival It won an award for Special Jury Prize.
