Wag the Dog is a 1997 English-language Comedy Drama motion picture written by Larry Beinhart, Hilary Henkin and David Mamet. The movie is directed by Barry Levinson and produced by Barry Levinson, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal under the banner of Baltimore Pictures in collaboration with TriBeCa Productions. Shortly before an election, a spin-doctor and a Hollywood producer join efforts to fabricate a war in order to cover up a presidential sex scandal. Wag the dog features Dustin Hoffman in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Robert De Niro, Anne Heche, Denis Leary, Willie Nelson, Andrea Martin and Woody Harrelson. The screenplay is written by Hilary Henkin and David Mamet which is inspired from American Hero by Larry Beinhart. The music was composed by Mark Knopfler.
