We Were Soldiers is a 2002 English-language Action Drama motion picture written by Harold G. Moore, Joseph L. Galloway and Randall Wallace. The movie is directed by Randall Wallace and produced by Bruce Davey, Stephen Mceveety and Randall Wallace under the banner of Icon Productions in collaboration with Wheelhouse Entertainment. The story of the first major battle of the American phase of the Vietnam War and the soldiers on both sides that fought it, while their wives wait nervously and anxiously at home for the good news or the bad news. We were soldiers features Mel Gibson in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Madeleine Stowe, Greg Kinnear, Sam Elliott, Chris Klein, Keri Russell and Barry Pepper. The screenplay is written by Randall Wallace which is inspired from We Were Soldiers Once and Young by Hal Moore and Joseph L. Galloway. The music was composed by Nick Glennie-smith.
