American Idol is a 2018 English-language show developed by Simon Fuller directed by Andy Scheer, Bruce Gowers and Ken Warwick. American Idol was produced under the production house Fremantle North America in collaboration with 19 Entertainment. The show originally aired on Fox and ABC. American idol features Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest. The series is based on Pop Idol. The music was composed by Julian Gingell along with Barry Stone and Cathy Dennis. The series has a running time of 22-104 minutes for each episode. The show has a total of 681 episodes during it's run of 21 seasons. It was released on 24th February 2019. Distribution rights for the series were acquired by Fremantle. The series is set in the 1870s in Deadwood, South Dakota, before and after the area's annexation by the Dakota Territory, and charts Deadwood's growth from camp to town.
