Season 1
Set in the dying days of a corrupt Republic, political and legal systems are crumbling and the military is slowly shoring up its power base. All await the arrival of Julius Caesar after his conquest of Gaul. It is against this milieu that we meet two soldiers of Caesar's 13th Legion: Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo. When Caesar's gold eagle – a symbol of his reign – is stolen, Caesar's cousin and commander, Mark Antony, enlists Vorenus and Pullo to track it down. The two could not be any more different: Lucius Vorenus is an honorable and pragmatic centurion, whilst Titus Pullo is drunken, arrogant and rebellious. However, the two legionnaires remain single-minded, in both their loyalty to Caesar and their quest to find the stolen eagle.
