The Originals is a 2013 English-language Drama Fantasy show created by Julie Plec. The Originals was produced under the production house My So-Called Company in collaboration with Alloy Entertainment, CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television. The series originally aired on The CW. A spin-off from The Vampire Diaries and set in New Orleans, The Originals centers on the Mikaelson siblings, otherwise known as the world's original vampires: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). Now Klaus must take down his protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who is now in charge of New Orleans, in order to re-take his city, as he originally built New Orleans. Klaus departed from the city after being chased down by his father Mikael, while it was being constructed and Marcel took charge. As Klaus has returned after many years, his ego has provoked him to become the king of the city. Every King needs an heir says Klaus, accepting the unborn child. The child is a first to be born to a hybrid (part vampire, part werewolf) and a werewolf (Hayley). Written by Anaya Miller. The originals stars Joseph Morgan in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Daniella Pineda and Leah Pipes. The music was composed by Michael Suby. Cinematography was done by Michael Karasick, Darren Genet, John Smith, Datan Hopson and Rob C. Givens. The series has a running time of 45 minutes for each episode. The show has a total of 92 episodes during it's run of 5 seasons. Distribution rights for the show were acquired by Warner Bros.
