Habra (Bengali: ) is a city, a municipality and a police station of Barasat sadar subdivision in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is an administrative subdivision. Habra is situated on the Jessore Road between Kolkata and the Bangladesh border at Petrapole. Its location makes it an important town for export and import of goods between India and Bangladesh. Under British rule it was a base for Royal Air Force fighters. Habra is located at 2250N 8838E / 22.83N 88.63E / 22.83; 88.63. It has an average elevation of 13metres (42feet). As of 2011 India census, Habra had a population of 149,675, out of which 76,510 were males and 73,165 were females. The 06 years population was 11,211. Habra had an average literacy rate of 90.85%.
