It is the administrative headquarter of the district. The name literally means the "Town of Courage". The town is situated on the bank of the river Hathmati. Motipura, Mehtapura, Mahavirnagar, Pologround are major areas, Navratri, Diwali, Ramzan and Uttrayan are the biggest festivals of the town.
