Hospet (Kannada: Hosapete), is a city in Bellary District in northern Karnataka, India. It is on the Tungabhadra River, 12km from the World Heritage site consisting of the ruins of the medieval city of Vijayanagara, former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire.
