Hukeri (Kannada )is a panchayat town in Belgaum district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Hukeri is located at 1614N 7436E / 16.23N 74.6E / 16.23; 74.6. It has an average elevation of 631metres (2070feet). Bellad Bagewadi is a villages which comes under Hukkeri Taluk. Hukkeri is a name which is derived from two words 'hoovina' + 'kere' means it was a place where plenty of flowers were grown and were supplied to Adilshah of Bijapur. Sankeshwar is a business city comes under Hukkeri Taluk, which is known as it is on National Highway. As of 2001 India census, Hukeri had a population of 19,906.
