About Jafrabad

Jafrabad is a city and a municipality in Amreli District in the Indian state of Gujarat. As of 2001 India census, Jafrabad had a population of 35,081. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Jafrabad has an average literacy rate of 49%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 61%, and female literacy is 37%. In Jafrabad, 17% of the population is under six years of age. There is a 1,100 year old Sukhnath temple here located in Bawaseri near the Brahma Samaj Vadi. There is 1200 year old Varahavarup Temple located in Varahsvarup, 7km from Jafrabad. For the first time the Chief-Minister came to meet the people living in Jafrabad and motivated them to increase literacy among girls. Today the people of Jafrabad want new companies and projects in the area to start developing the place. The climate in Jafrabad is not cloudy and not very hot. Since Jafrabad is a coastal town the main occupation of the people is fishing.
