About Jagi road

Jagiroad and a dry fish market. It was earlier known as Nakhola, but in British Rule of India, due to frequent confusion with the name Noakhali of Bangladesh, it was changed to Jagiroad because the road to Jagi passes through this place, which is again another place in Morigaon district. As of 2001 India census,[1] Jagiroad had a population of 17,254. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Jagiroad has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 69%. In Jagiroad, 12% of the population is under six years of age. Jagiroad is part of Nowgong and the GuwahatiLumding section operated by Indian Railways' North East Frontier Railway pass through Jagiroad. Jagiroad is also connected with Morigaon by Morigaon Road. On 16 April 2014, a train to Guwahati carrying around 700 people derailed here, leading to 45 injuries. Visitors can see here the most beautiful jog fall.Many assamese films were shot here. The Nagaon Paper Mill was established in 1970. A unit of Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd. which is situated on the National Highway 37 at Kagajnagar in Jagiroad. It is the first paper mill in the world to produce Kraft pulp in Kamyr Continuous Digester with 100% bamboo as raw material.
