Jambusar is a city and a municipality in Bharuch district in the Indian state of Gujarat. Jambusar is located at 2203N 7248E / 22.05N 72.8E / 22.05; 72.8. It has an average elevation of 4metres (13feet). As of 2001 India census, Jambusar had a population of 38,771. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. According to Legend, many centuries ago, a Brahmin tribe lived at this spot. The name Jambusar is derived from their surname JAMBU + SAR (which means Lake or Pool in Sanskrit).
