About Jaysingpur

Jaysingpur is a city and a municipal council in Kolhapur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The city got the name from Raja Jaysing, father of Shrimant Chatrapati Pratapsinh Maharaj of Kolhapur who developed the city. The city is famous for the tobacco market which is one of the biggest in the country. The city used to house production units of notable Gutkhas and tobacco in the region. The city is also famous for Ram mandir (9th Lane) and the Siddheshwar mandir (4th Lane). Jaysingpur is rapidly developing as a major satellite suburb of Sangli metropolitan region. Jaysingpur is just 8km from Sangli city. Jaysingpur is well connected to Pune and Mumbai by trains and road. The city has a very strategic location as it is on the diagonal meeting point of quadrilateral formed by Kolhapur, Sangli, Miraj and Ichalkaranji.
