About Jharmundi

Jarmundi is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Dumka district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 27 km from Dumka, the district headquarters.Jarmundi, the eponymous CD Block headquarters, is located at 242331N 87323E. As per 2011 Census of India Jarmundi CD Block had a total population of 168,163, all of which were rural. There were 84,341 (50 %) males and 82,822 (50 %) females. Scheduled Castes numbered 11,688 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 44,796. Population below 6 years was 29,973.Hindi and Santali are languages spoken in the region.As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Jarmundi CD Block was 80,233 (58.06 % of the population over 6 years) out of which 50,701 (63 %) were males and 29,528 (37 %) were females.[2] As per 2011 census, literacy in Dumka district was 61.02.[4]Literacy in Jharkhand (for population over 7 years) was 66.41% in 2011.
