Kamakshyanagar (also spelt as Kamakhyanagar) is a town and a notified area committee in Dhenkanal district in the Indian state of Orissa. Kamakshyanagar is located at 2056N 8533E / 20.93N 85.55E / 20.93; 85.55. It has an average elevation of 66m (217ft). As of 2001 India census, Kamakshyanagar had a population of 15,002. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kamakshyanagar has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 65%. In Kamakshyanagar, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is said to have derived its name Kamakhyanagar from the deity 'Kamakhya' (the Goddess of Kamakhya Temple Guwahati) which is a shakti temple situated on the Nilachal Hill in western part of Guwahati city in Assam, India.
