Karimpur (Bengali: ) is a census town in Tehatta subdivision of Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Like any other small village town in Ganges delta, it was a small river port during the time of Mughal. Till the year of Indian independence (1947), it was just a small village backed by a port that used to ferry jute through river Khare, a tributary of Jalangi River. Division of India changed this small port into a vibrant village town due to settlement of people from East Bengal. 1971 the year of Bangladesh liberation war(with help of India) saw another surge of refugees in this town located only 10km from Bangladesh border. Population and commerce in Karimpur was growing fast since 1971 due to new settlers who preferred to build a house in this town due to its high-land surrounded by small rivers.
