About Kukshi

Kukshi is a town and a nagar panchayat in Dhar district in the southwestern Madhya Pradesh state in central India. It is the administrative headquarters of Kukshi tehsil of the district. Kukshi is a part of the Nimar (Nemar) region of Madhya Pradesh. It is 350km from Bhopal and 170km from Indore. It lies west of the Narmada River valley and south of the Vindhyas. Kukshi is the biggest tehsil of the Dhar district. It is surrounded by the districts of Dhar to the north, Khargone (West Nimar) to the northeast, Barwani to the southeast, and Alirajpur and Jhabua to the west. Kukshi has a subtropical climate, which is made up of a hot, dry summer (AprilJune) followed by monsoon season (JulySeptember), and a cool, dry winter. The average rainfall is about 45inches per year. The temperature varies from around 10C in the winter to 45C in the summer. As of 2001 India census, Kukshi had a population of 24,313.
