Mangaon is a town in district of Raigad in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located on Mumbai-Goa National Highway . Places to see near Mangaon are Raigad fort and Harihareshwar Shiv temple. In March,1920 Dr.B.R.Ambedkar spoke at a Depressed Classes conference in Mangaon in Kolhapur State; it was attended by the Maharaja of Kolhapur, who publicly praised him as a future national leader. At the end of the conference the Maharaja and his courtiers shocked the tradition-minded by actually dining with Ambedkar and his caste members.
