Pipavav is located at latitude 2054'N and longitude 7130'E on the coast of Gujarat, India. By road it is 2 hours (85km) from Amreli, 30 minutes (20km) from Rajula city, 2.5 hours (130km) from Bhavnagar on the east and 1.5 hrs (89km) from Diu in the west. Pipavav is the location of Port Pipavav, the first private sector port in India (). Pipavav port is capable of handling container as well as bulk vessels and many shipping lines are currently using the port facilities. The cargo throughput for the port is available on their website. In 2008 Port Pipavav handled around 200,000 TEUs of container cargo. Pipavav started operations in 1996, primarily to cater to the refrigerated cargo market of Veraval.
