Risod is a city and a municipal council in Washim district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. M.P. Bhavana P. Gavli also from Risod Risod was a small village and was quite a vibrant place during early fifties. There is a school named as Bharat Madhyamik Shala started by Philanthropists of the village during early forties. the school produced quite a few luminaries that include Anant rao Deshmukh, former Planning Minister of Maharashtra, Dr Mukund Deshmukh, a well known psychiatrist, Dr A S Deshpande a professor at NIBM Pune who designed the Banking Recruitment test, Dr R S Deshpande, Director at a world known research Institute in Bangalore, Dr Brahmanada Deshpande, famous historian and many others. All of them have studied at the school in the village and made their carrier.Risod is also known for its Jatra and Amardas baba Mandir.
