Sattenapalle (Telugu: ) is a town and a municipality 20 miles west of Guntur City in Guntur district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Sattenapalle is located at 1624N 8011E / 16.4N 80.18E / 16.4; 80.18. It has an average elevation of 71metres (232feet). Amaravati is situated in Sattenapalle Taluk, 35km from Guntur and 47km from Vijaywada. The Buddhist sculptures at Amravati are world famous. It is renowned for the temple of Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Lord Amareswara. As of 2010 India census, Sattenapalle had a population of 101,350. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Sattenapalle has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 52%. In Sattenapalle, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
