Shirur is a municipal council in the Pune district of the Indian state of Maharashtra. Shirur is located on the boundaries of the Pune and Ahmednagar districts on the banks of the River Ghod. The town is also known as Ghodnadi to distinguish it from similar places with the same name. Ghodnadi means "River Ghod" in the native Marathi language. Shirur has a significant historical and cultural reference.
