Sironcha is a town and the administrative headquarters of Sironcha tehsil in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra state in central India. Sironcha is located at 1850N 7958E / 18.83N 79.96E / 18.83; 79.96. It has an average elevation of 118metres (390feet). There is a planned National highway No 16 between Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh and Jagdalpur in Chhatisgarh State, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh states. The construction of this National highway includes building bridges over the Pranahita and Indravati rivers. Historically Sironcha was a key location for the East India company from Nizam perspective, however it is not clear why Sironcha, a remote place, was selected. Anil Baddela, a native of Sironcha is working with the local community to research the East India Company's strategic intent of going to Sirocha. Is it that the EIC understood that Sironcha was rich in minerals and recognised the importance of river transportation? Sironcha has the look of an English village....
