Sonkatch is a town and a nagar panchayat in Dewas district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. As of 2001 India census, Sonkatch had a population of 15,543. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Sonkatch has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 61%. In Sonkatch, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.The town has arranged big hawns at famous Pipleshwar Mahadev temple near Kalisindh river. On these ocacsions around 500 sadhus gather each year.Pushpgiri one of the biggest tirths of Jainism is situated here.IT IS LOCATED ON INDORE-BHOPAL NH87 The town is situated on the bank of Kalisindh river and is a major town on the Indore Bhopal Road.
