Udgir (Marathi: ) is a city and a municipal council in Latur District in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is famous for education and the Udgir Fort. The Name Udgir was derived from the saint Udagir Baba. As of the 2001 India census, Udgir had a population of 2,00,908. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Udgir has an average literacy rate of 71%, which is higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 63%. In Udgir, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. Most people in Udgir are Maharastrians. The main source of income is Agriculture, and there is a famous dairy farm. Besides Marathi, Urdu, Kannada and Telugu are widely spoken and understood by the majority of people.
