Vellore (Tamil: pronounced[velur]( listen)is a tier-2 City and municipal corporation in the vellore district Indian state of Tamil Nadu. In the August of 2008, it was made a municipal corporation. Eventhough it is upgraded as 9th city corporation in 2008,due to its fast growth,It is the 6th largest city in tamilnadu in terms of population and area,after chennai,coimbatore,madurai,trichi and salem.
