About Vuyyuru

Vuyyuru is a town and Mandal headquarters in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located on the NH 9 between Vijayawada and Machilipatnam about 25km from Vijayawada and 39km from Machilipatnam. The population of Vuyyuru Mandal is 73,767 and that of town around 41,000 (muncipal area Vuyyuru's economy is based on agriculture, mainly majority is paddy, and sugar cane. The land is very fertile, and irrigation canals which draw water from the Krishna river criss-cross the area. Drinking water is not scarce. A small dam and bridge was constructed during the British period on the main canal in the town. This bridge served the locals for more than a century, although there is a new bridge now. Prior to the construction of the KCP sugar factory in 1941, irrigation facilities were limited.
