Jessica Greenberg is a social anthropologist who is an assistant professor of Anthropology and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a political anthropologist, Greenbergs research has focused on questions of democracy, post-socialism, protest, citizenship, state, and revolution as well as her regional interests in Eastern Europe, the Former Yugoslavia (Serbia specifically) and Europe. Greenberg has stated that it is necessary to “be curious, critical and empathetic, keep an open mind, listen to what people say and watch what they do” (Interview with Greenberg). She has noted that “it’s important to remember that knowledge production is a fundamentally collaborative process that requires both intellectual and ethical commitments” (Interview with Greenberg).
