Louise Browne

Louise Patricia Browne (born 16 March 1952) is a West Indies cricketer who played eight womens test matches and eight womens one-day internationals for the Trinidad and Tobago womens cricket team and the West Indian womens cricket team in the 1970s. She has one son, Ricardo. Louise was named captain of the inaugural West Indies womens cricket team. She led the team in a series against Australia in 1976. Both test matches, played in Jamaica, were drawn. The West Indies team led on first inning in both games. Later that year, she again led the West Indies women on a tour of India. That series of six test matches also ended in a draw. In the year 2000, Louise was named one of the hundred top sporting personalities of the century in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2011, Louise managed the USA Womens Cricket Team at a World Cup Qualifier in Bangladesh. She was inducted into the Trinidad and Tobago Sports Hall of Fame on November 20, 2015.She is the 5th of twelve children (8 girls and 4 boys). Like Louise, two of her younger sisters, Beverly Mary Browne and Ann Gertrude Browne-John also represented Trinidad and Tobago and the West Indies at womens cricket. Ann has also captained, coached, and managed the West Indies Womens Cricket Team.
