Nan Zhou

Zhou Nan (Simplified Chinese: 周南; Pinyin: Zhōu Nán) was a prominent Chinese politician and diplomat, and served as Director of the Xinhua News Agency in Hong Kong, Vice Minister of the Peoples Republic of Chinas Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador to the United Nations. He was also a member of the Standing Committee of the 7th and 8th National Peoples Congress, and a member of the 14th Central Committee of the CPC. He is best known as Chinas delegation head and main representative during negotiations for the transfer of sovereignties of Hong Kong and Macau from Britain and Portugal to China.
