Roy Oliver

On April 29, 2017, Jordan Edwards, a 15-year-old African American boy, was fatally shot by police officer Roy Oliver in Balch Springs, Texas. Edwards was shot in the back of the head while riding in the front passengers seat of a vehicle driving away from a party. Edwards was unarmed during the encounter. The officer, Oliver, was fired from the department. He surrendered himself to police after being charged with murder on May 5, 2017.
