BIOGRAPHY

Veronica Lazăr (16 October 1938 - 8 June 2014) was a Romanian born Italian actress.She made her debut as Marlon Brandos deceased wife in Bernardo Bertoluccis Last Tango in Paris (1972), and also appeared in some of the directors subsequent films, La Luna (1979), The Sheltering Sky (1990), Besieged (1998) and Me and You (2012). Lazăr is probably best known for her role as the demonic Mater Tenebrarum in Dario Argentos Inferno (1980), and she later appeared in Argentos The Stendhal Syndrome (1996). Her other films included Lucio Fulcis The Beyond (1981), Michelangelo Antonionis Identification of a Woman (1982), Towards Evening (1990), The Princes Manuscript (2000) and Ginostra (2002).She married Italian actor Adolfo Celi in 1966 and had two children with him, director Leonardo Celi and actress Alessandra Celi. Her last role was in Bertoluccis Me and You (2012).
