Azad is a 1940 Hindi-language Drama motion picture written by Saradindu Bannerjee and J.s. Kashyap. The movie is directed by N. R. Acharya. Azad was produced under the production house Bombay Talkies. The story centers on three college friends: the liberal Vijay, the conservative Loknath and Jagdish. Azad stars Leela Chitnis in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Ashok Kumar, Hansa Wadkar, Ashok Kumar Ganguly, Rama Shukul, Mumtaz Ali and Nazir Bedi. The music was composed by Saraswati Devi along with Ramchandra Pal and Composer: Saraswati Devi. It was released on 1st January 1940.
