Charade is a 1954 German-language Comedy Drama film written by Jobst Arndt, Hans Fritz Beckmann, Wolf Neumeister and Helmut Withrich. The movie is directed by Erik Ode. Charade was produced under the production house Ito-Film. This is an anthology film, with a frame story and three stories with different characters. In Portrait of a Murderer, a female artist draws sketches of a mysterious neighbor. She is unaware that the man is a murderer. Duel at Dawn is set in 1880s Austria. Two military officers fight a duel, with the survivor free to claim the heart of their shared love interest. The Midas Touch is a romance story of sorts. Jonah Watson is a successful American businessman, but is disgruntled with his life. He emigrates to England to start a new life, and works as a common servant. But he falls in love with a cockney maid who dreams of marrying into wealth. Written by Dimos I. Charade features Josefin Kipper, Joachim Brennecke, Heli Finkenzeller, James Mason, Pamela Mason, Scott Forbes and Harry Hayden. The music was composed by Peter Kreuder along with Heinrich Riethm Ller. Cinematography was done by Otto Baecker and Kurt Hasse and editing by Elfi Tillack. The motion picture has a running time of 78 minutes. It was released on 16th September 1954. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Allianz Filmverleih.
