Yen had signed a four-film contract after winning an open talent search hosted by Yuen, and Drunken Tai Chi was one of the contracted films. Peace Film was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Chow Ling-kong and Wang H.w. Wang. Drunken Tai Chi is written by Peace Group, Brandy Yuen, Woo-ping Yuen and Yuen Woo-ping and it is directed by Woo-ping Yuen and Yuen Woo-ping.
