Joint Security Area is a 2000 Korean-language Action Drama movie written by Seong-san Jeong, Hyun-seok Kim, Mu-yeong Lee, Chan-wook Park, Sang-yeon Park, Kim Hyun-seok, Jeong Seong-san, Lee Moo-yeong and Park Chan-wook. The movie is directed by Chan-wook Park and Park Chan-wook and produced by Shim Jae-myung and Lee Eun under the banner of Myung Films. In the DMZ separating North and South Korea, two North Korean soldiers have been killed, supposedly by one South Korean soldier.. Joint security area stars Lee Young-ae, Lee Byung-hun, Song Kang-ho, Yeong-ae Lee, Byung-hun Lee, Kang-ho Song and Han-wi Lee. The film is based on DMZ by Park Sang-yeon. The music was composed by Jo Yeong-wook along with Bang Jun-seok. Cinematography was done by Kim Seong-bok and editing by Kim Sang-bum. The film has a running time of 110 minutes. It was released on 9th September 2000 in Korean ,English ,French and German languages. The Film was successful at box office. Joint Security Area was made on a budget of ₹30 lakh and it was a super hit at box office gross of $30 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by CJ Entertainment.
