Manoos is a 1939 Marathi-language Drama Romance motion picture written by A. Bhaskarrao and directed by Rajaram Vankudre Shantaram and V. Shantaram and produced by Prabhat Film Company under the banner of Prabhat Film Company. Manoos features Shahu Modak in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Shanta Hublikar, Sundara Bai, Ram Marathe, Sundarabai, Budasaheb and Gauri. The music was composed by Master Krishnarao. Cinematography was done by V. Avdhoot. The motion picture has a running time of 164 minutes. It was released on 1st January 1939. A love tragedy featuring a policeman, Ganpat (Modak) and a prostitute, Mainal (Hublikar). Ganpat saves Maina from a police raid on a brothel and they fall in love. Ganpat's respectable middle-class mother (Sundarabai) symbolizes all that Maina would like to be, but she is arrested for murdering her evil uncle and refuses Ganpat's offer to release her from prison.
