Paraya Dhan is a 1971 Hindi-language Drama Family motion picture written by Ved Rahi and Sudhendu Roy. The movie is directed by Rajendra Bhatia and produced by Rajendra Bhatia. Paraya dhan stars Balraj Sahni in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Rakesh Roshan, Hema Malini, Abhi Bhattacharya, Jayshree T., Raj Mehra and Chaman Puri. The screenplay is written by Ved Rahi and S Khalil. The music was composed by Rahul Dev Burman along with R. D. Burman. Cinematography was done by K. H. Kapadia and editing by Nand Kumar. It was released on 23rd October 1971. Rajjoo alias Rajni lives in a small village in rural India with her father, Govindram, who is a respected gentleman as well as the village Sarpanch. When Rajni comes of age, Govindram arranges her marriage with Shankar, the son of Shewaram. Shankar comes to Rajni, and both are attracted to each other. Than the peace in the village is shattered when a notorious dacoit, Hiralal, breaks out of prison and takes shelter in Govindram's house.
