Raavan is a 1984 Hindi-language Drama Family movie written by Vijay Krishna Acharya and directed by Johny Bakshi and Mani Ratnam and produced by Johny Bakshi, Mani Ratnam and Sharada Trilok under the banner of Madras Talkies. In the epic Ramayan, Bhagwan Shri Indra assumes human form of Bhagwan Shri Ram to end the rule of Demon King Lord Raavan.. Raavan stars Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Govinda, Nikhil Dwivedi, Ravi Kishan, Priyamani and Smita Patil. The screenplay is written by Mani Ratnam. The music was composed by Jagjit Singh along with A. R. Rahman. Cinematography was done by Santosh Sivan and V. Manikandan and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. The motion picture has a running time of 131 minutes. It was released on 28th September 1984. Raavan was made on a budget of ₹55 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹28 crore. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Reliance BIG Pictures.
